Canon 24mm f/1.4 II Lens Review

April 26, 2019

I got a brand new Canon 24mm f/1.4 II lens and I had to try it out ASAP. Luckily I have amazing friends who are willing to let me take pictures of them on a days notice. I loved seeing how wide and close I could get with this lens. It honestly felt so much different than my 35mm, more than I was expecting it to.

I really loved the 24mm and I’m glad I purchased it! It is a pricey lens, but fixed lenses are always way sharper than zoom lenses, so I’ve opted to only buy fixed lenses. The price increases with the quality of glass. If you spend $200 on a lens, it’ll look like a $200 lens. When you spend $2000, it’ll look like you spent that much. It does make a difference. This lens runs for $1549.00.

The people at the camera shop told me that I might not need to calibrate it right out of the box, but after this shoot I knew it needed to be calibrated. I would advise to just get your lenses calibrated right off the bat, might as well!

The funniest thing about this shoot is that we went to Utah Lake because we thought it was frozen, so we were going to take pics on the lake! We got there and it was completely melted, not frozen one bit. We made it work 😉

All images were taken with the Canon EF 24mm f/1.4 II USM Lens which can be purchased here.

What camera did you use for these photos

I used a Canon 5D Mark IV (:
